Portmeirion wedding photography

This awesome couple are Ed and Charlotte…they’ve been together for over a decade since meeting when they were teenagers. When they first got in touch and told my that they were super relaxed and wanted a photographer who would join in with the day and make the most of Portmeirion I was over the moon. It sounded perfect!

So, Portmeirion is a quirky coastal village in Wales famous for its Italian inspired painted buildings. Ed and Charlotte held their ceremony in the historic Hercules Hall, which is right in the heart of the village. Portmeirion means a lot to the two of them and was their first (only!) choice of location. I’ve been there before for a family shoot but this was my first time photographing a wedding there and I’ve got to say I loved every minute.

They got ready at Castell Deudraeth which is at the entrance to the village, overlooking the estuary. I then jumped in a minibus with the boys to head down the hill to Hercules Hall. Charlotte got a lift via golf buggy! After the ceremony the guests had time to explore the village while the three of us went for a wander and took photos. We then headed back up to Castell Deudraeth for the reception – a few drinks in the sunshine before people started getting VERY competitive on the retro computer games consoles that Ed and Charlotte had hired.

The first dance was earlier than normal, giving us chance to head down into the village again for sunset. This was probably one of the most memorable bits about the day for Ed and Charlotte (and me!) because it’s so rare to get Portmeirion to yourself. We had a lovely potter around and headed down to the beach for a few photos. We then came back up to the Castell for an extremely competitive, husband vs wife game of Guitar Hero!

Ed and Charlotte’s’s wedding was so much fun and was everything I love about weddings. Here’s some of my favourites from their epic day!
