I am so bloody excited to be blogging this wedding. It’s a cracker from start to finish and features one of my favourite venues, Silverholme Manor up in the Lake District.
I joined the girls who were getting ready at Silverholme, everyone was in high spirits and there wasn’t a trace of nerves in sight, I think Carly was just counting down the hours until she saw Ian!
Ian and the boys were getting ready in a cottage just down the road so I was able to nip down there to get pictures of them all getting ready. For the guys that basically means watching YouTube to find out how to tie a tie and fold a pocketsquare. What would we do without the internet?!
I love it when couples are getting ready near each other, it means I can flit between the two of you without missing out on anything. It’s a great compromise if you’re wanting more documentary coverage and don’t fancy having a second photographer around.
Weddings at Silverholme Manor
The beauty of Silverholme is that everything can happen on site, once you’re there there’s no need to jump in the car or get lost finding a tiny Lake District church. The ceremony room is a beautifully bright space. I love that Carly and Ian had chosen to keep the decor nice and simple in there with a simple copper arch and floral arrangements. The entire focus was on the ceremony which was led by Carly’s lovely aunt who just happens to be a registrar. It was such a personal service and very emotional!
Ceremony done and (a whole heap) of confetti thrown it was time to relax and enjoy the celebrations. The lawn at Silverholme is perfect for fizz and nibbles and the views over the lake are pretty darn spectacular.
While everyone was chatting away and having a good old catch up Carly, Ian and I snuck away down to the lake shore for some photos. Ian protested that he hated having his photo taken but I think he did well! They had a good laugh together and that’s all I needed from them!
I can’t end this blog without mentioning two things – the amazing Karen Rhodes catering. I’ve worked with these guys a few times now and they are fantastic at what they do. The food is great, everyone is looked after, I can’t compliment them enough! And finally, the dancefloor. Oh the dancefloor. Carly and Ian know how to throw a party that’s for sure!
If you’re getting married at Silverholme Manor, or anywhere in the Lake District, then I would love to be there! Give me a shout and we’ll have a chat about your plans.
