Where to start with this fantastic wedding day?! From the moment they got in touch and talked about their relaxed, chilled out day complete with ale and curry I knew these were my kind of couple! Katherine and Mike had planned a day that was utterly them. From getting ready together in the morning to their ceremony amidst Oxford’s historical backdrop and a relaxed village fete style reception it was perfectly unique.

Bodleian Library, Oxford

My history geek is coming out now! This was my first time in Oxford and I was blown away by the beautiful buildings and architecture. The sheer history of the city is mind blowing.

Katherine and Mike were married in a small ceremony in Bodleian Library. The main research library for the university and one of the oldest libraries in Europe it is a grand building full of history. The ceremony took place in Convocation House and Chancellors Court – a 17th century building which was formerly a meeting chamber for the Royalist House of Commons during the English Civil War.

Following their civil ceremony it was lovely to see Mike’s Dad bless the couple and their marriage. A really lovely touch that meant so much to him.

After the ceremony there was afternoon tea which gave everyone chance to catch up with the newly weds and have a bit of an explore before heading off to their reception.

Shrivenham wedding reception

Whilst they had been getting married some friends had been busy setting up the garden games at  Viscountess Barrington’s Memorial Hall. The sun was shining and this was the perfect way to end the day – loads of friends and family arrived to celebrate with them and the atmosphere was so relaxed and full of fun.

I left everyone dancing the night away. Thanks Katherine and Mike for having me along on your day!
