It seems like a long time ago now, but remember when the country was suddenly overcome by the Mini Beast from the East?! Melissa and Sam are going to remember it forever as the ‘Beast’ struck just before their ceremony!
Moments before Melissa was about to walk down the aisle the registrar tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the window behind her, Sam and I looked round and saw a wave of snow heading across the fields at the back of Rookery Hall straight for the venue! We spent the day dodging snow showers but it just shows how happy, relaxed guests can make for a perfect wedding day, whatever the weather.
Rookery Hall wedding photographer
As Melissa and Sam were both getting ready at Rookery Hall I was able to easily photograph both of their morning preparations. I love it when I get to do that, it’s a great way of getting to know all the people closest to both of you as well as being able to tell the full story of your day.
At this point the sun was shining, there were just a few grey clouds gathering on the horizon but nothing to show that snow was on the way! By the time Melissa walked down the aisle with her Dad the sky was dark and the snow was coming down thick and fast. That didn’t stop the couple laughing and giggling their way through the ceremony, it was really lovely to see how much fun they have together.
And guess what, ceremony over, the sun was out again! This was to be the pattern for the whole day, we did a lot of jumping outside for portraits whenever the snow stopped! Although Melissa and Sam braved the snow for some brilliant photos together.
Time to party…
After some hilarious speeches – Sam’s especially was full of some great moments – it was time to hit the dancefloor. Now, they’d both been telling me that they had done the odd practice of their first dance in the kitchen and weren’t planning anything at all…then Sam picked Melissa up and whirled her around the dancefloor. It was so them and everyone loved it! After some dance off action the DJ mentioned to me that the younger bridesmaids had asked if they could sing a song. I braced myself for a rendition of Let It Go or another similar sing along…but these girls were way too cool for that. They grabbed the mic and gave a word perfect Mans’ Not Hot. They took everyone by surprise and stole the show!
Melissa and Sam, what a day! You had sunshine, snow and everything in between and kept smiling the whole way through. I loved every second.
